Facebook makes another mobile acquisition: location app Glancee
Facebook today closed a deal to acquire Glancee, an ambient mobile location app that alerts users when people with similar interests are nearby, according to an announcement on Glancee’s website. Co-founders of the San Francisco-based startup — Andrea Vaccari, Alberto Tretti and Gabriel Grise — will join Facebook, but other terms of the deal were not disclosed

Facebook hires: engineering, recruiting, policy, more
Facebook either hired a lot of people recently or revamped its Careers page by removing redundant postings this week, as there were quite a lot of jobs removed from its employment page. Its LinkedIn feed only showed a few hires of software engineerings, recruiters and various other staff. Some of the positions removed from the Careers page included engineers, policy jobs and account management staff

Facebook platform sent 160M users to mobile apps in April
Facebook says it sent more than 160 million visitors to Facebook-integrated mobile apps last month, according to a post on the company’s developer blog. Native mobile games like Zynga’s “With Friends” titles, popular apps from Spotify, Pinterest and now Viddy and Socialcam are among those that benefit from Facebook’s mobile discovery channels. Facebook tests new icon to indicate whether activity will be shared after users click links
Some Facebook users are seeing a new icon on News Feed items which link to sites that share activity back to a user’s Timeline. The color of the icon indicates whether clicking the link will generate a story alerting users’ friends that they read an article or watched a video.
