Top 25 Facebook games of April 2012

April Fool’s Day has come and gone, meaning it’s safe for us to take a look at the top 25 Facebook games without fear of prank entries. We start with the top 25 games by daily active users (which is the best way to gauge a title’s core audience), where only seven of the games on this month’s list saw gains. The largest gain belongs to Zynga Slingo at 3.6 million DAU with second place going to Rovio’s Angry Birds at 1.67 million DAU

Friends, Digg, Gogobot, Hey Tell, tabs, games, more on this week’s top 20 emerging Facebook apps by MAU

Friend and calendar applications, as well as games, and Timeline apps comprised our list of emerging Facebook apps by monthly active users this week. The apps grew from between 170,000 and 370,000 MAU, based on  AppData , our data tracking service covering traffic growth for apps on Facebook. We define emerging applications as those that ended with between 100,000 and 1 million MAU in the past week.

Facebook tool helps users divide friends from acquaintances, clean out News Feed

Facebook introduced a new tool for users to add friends to an “acquaintances” list so these people appear less frequently in a user’s feed. The social network is promoting the tool as a way to “see posts that matter to you,” but interestingly it does not suggest using the list to protect certain posts or information — another key benefit of maintaining lists.

Adele, PlayStation, Mercedes-Benz, Disney, Guitar Hero, more on this week’s top 20 growing Facebook pages

Singer Adele topped our list of the fastest growing Facebook pages by Likes this week, although there were plenty of media, tech, game, movie and brand pages that kept her in good company. Pages on our list this week grew from between 535,400 to 1.5 million Likes.

Dailymotion, BranchOut, Angry Birds, Yahoo, Pinterest, Spotify, more on this week’s top 20 growing Facebook apps by MAU

Video sharing site Dailymotion’s Open Graph application topped our list of apps growing by monthly active users this week. Aside from popular games like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja Frenzy, apps on the list included BranchOut, Pinterest, Spotify, and other photo, video and Open Graph apps.
